Book Launch: The Ideal City

Join us for a discussion with Helle Søholt (Gehl), Bjarke Ingels (BIG), and Sam Cochran (AD), and a sneak peek into our new book with gestalten, The Ideal City.
Background
We have teamed up with gestalten to explore a better way forward for our shared home: the city.
Our new book The Ideal City gathers real urban projects from around the world that support the well-being of both people and our planet — some as big as a skyscraper, others as small as an app on your phone.
Join us for a virtual book launch to celebrate the release of The Ideal City — a sneak peek into the book, and a toast to the designers, architects, activists and community leaders who work every day to create better cities.
You can pre-order the book here.
At the launch, gestalten editor Elli Stuhler and SPACE10 co-founder Simon Caspersen will give a sneak peek into the book, and afterwards Sam Cochran (Architectural Digest US) will be speaking with book contributors Helle Søholt (Gehl) and Bjarke Ingels (BIG) about what makes an ideal city of tomorrow.
BYO questions (and a glass of your favourite drink) and see you on Zoom. We look forward to celebrating with you.
About the speakers
Helle Søholt is founding partner and CEO of Gehl. She started the company with Professor Jan Gehl in 2000. Over the years of its existence, Gehl has been awarded multiple prizes and recognitions for their contribution to making cities more livable and sustainable around the world.
Bjarke Ingels is an architect and founder of the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), an architecture studio practicing within the fields of architecture, landscape, engineering, interiors and product design. Over two decades, Bjarke and BIG have been contributing to the built environment with a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable approach to architecture and urbanism, under the philosophy of ‘hedonistic sustainability’ — the idea that sustainable buildings and cities are not only good for the environment, but increase the quality of life for the people inhabiting them.
Sam Cochran is the features director at Architectural Digest, where he steers architecture, art, culture, and travel news while contributing to all parts of the magazine. In this position, he has overseen AD’s recurring Design Making a Difference package, dedicated to design for the greater good.
